Ways To Get Active
Street Outreach/Campaigns
If you would like to join us at one of our street outreach education events or one of our campaigns, be sure to follow us on Facebook for event updates. The Earthlings Experience are another grassroots group that organise street outreach in the UK and around the world.
Supporting Animal Sanctuaries
Always in need of support, we can help the selfless people who run these havens to animals by giving monthly donations, fundraising for them (through challenge events, i.e. running a marathon) or taking part in volunteer work days. Below is a list of nearby sanctuaries:
- Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary
- Springwood Sanctuary
- Tower Hill Stables
- Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats
- FRIEND Farm Animal Sanctuary
- Hugletts Wood Farm Animal Sanctuary
- The Retreat Animal Rescue
You can join the group for a small annual fee. There are numerous chapters across the country (typically on Facebook) which organise regular run meet-ups at park runs – sometimes members will prepare food to give out to other runners. You can also buy vegan runner clothing and apparel so you can represent wherever or whenever you want!
Schools
Whether it be organising a vegan bake sale to raise money for a sanctuary, encouraging your school to serve more vegan meals or choosing a project dedicated to raising awareness of animal rights – there are numerous opportunities in school settings to advocate for animals. A member of our team has experience in delivering talks to secondary school students on animal rights and veganism. If you are interested in arranging a talk please email us at info@sal-alliance.org.
Mentoring Others
Challenge 22 – If you have been vegan for six months or longer and are keen to support new vegans, volunteering as a Challenge Mentor is a brilliant way to do this!
